Dubai Design Week is the largest creative festival in the Middle East, reflecting Dubai’s position as the regional capital of design and is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority.

Over 6 days, it’s a program of several design disciplines including architecture, product design, interiors, multimedia and graphic design that will be offered to both industry non-industry public, to be discovered Dubai Design District. Here are some of our personal highlights.

 ABWAB

“Abwab translates as ‘doors’ in Arabic and is an annually remodeled exhibition dedicated to commissioning work from across the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia with a purpose to promote design talent and stimulate information exchange, uniquely experienced at Dubai Design Week.”

Established as a global meeting point for the international design community, Dubai has the responsibility to perform as a leader in supporting regional design. “By summoning key players to collaborate and present opportunities for cultural exchange, Abwab acts as a recurring point of intersection for talents from the region and audiences . 171 designers have participated to date.”

In thw Edition 5 of Abwab, designers are “challenged to recreate the local classrooms of their cultures.” Designers from 3 countries: India, the Eastern Provinces of Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon will “engage audiences with representations of this year’s theme ‘ways of learning’.”

The audience can interact with each pavilion and experience the making of memory as well as explore the way information is shared and taught in the respective cultures, by design.
