Fashion designer Arwa Al-Banawi doesn’t need much introduction anymore. Born in Jeddah, she grew up in Switzerland and moved to Dubai in 2012.

She made her first steps in the Fashion world as a fashion and lifestyle blogger in Jeddah, her hometown, before eventually taking up short courses in Fashion Design dispensed by London College of Fashion in Dubai. Still engaged with a career in banking at the time, Arwa, upon realizing her true passion for design, launched her first Ready-to-Wear collection in 2015. Her latest collection Beduwins in a ode to the traditional Saudi culture with its aspects that remain rather unknown to most.

We asked Arwa to give a tour of her favourite spots in Jeddah. Follow the guide!

What is your favorite cultural hangout spot ?

Medd Cafe in Jeddah. The coffee is amazing and the place brings all the creatives and artists in the Saudi community together.  I often tend to bump into people I know from the industry there.

What is your favorite restaurant/cafe ?

Section B – Hands down the best burger in town. It’s our Friday in Jeddah ritual whenever I’m in town.

What is your favorite shop around ?

Al-balad which is the old souq in Jeddah…I love it! You walk around, buy cool praying rugs and bakhour or Comfy thobes. It’s one of the coolest, most authentic places on earth.
