Sasan Nasernia | Calligraphy done his way

Born in Tehran, 1974, Sasan Nasernia first began his career working on calligraphy and typography after graduating from the Azad Art University of Tehran. If in the beginning he was focusing on Persian classical and modern calligraphy, he now expanded to painting, prints, digital works and installations. While trying to develop his own calligraphy, Sasan discovered a manner to link letters and words, which he named “Crazy Kufic”.

Nasernia loves to play with the tension between order and chaos. Giving his calligraphy a graffiti feel, Sasan’s work combines modernity and graphic, contemporary concepts with a traditional origin that reflects in the background.

He also cares about approaching the questions of the political uncertainties and terror throughout the Middle-East.
