Soft tones of the Sahara and Ghardaia’s ancient architecture have inspired the Studio FY7 X New Balance collaboration for a re-invented, Algerian flavoured 992.

The shoe is a reminder that no matter where you walk in the world, you can, and should, be proud to carry your history and heritage wherever you go.”

Younes Bendjima, an athlete-model-creative agent from Lyon, France has paid a visit to his heritage in order to inspire his latest collaboration with New Balance. Founder of Paris based creative agency, Studio FY7, Bendjima embarks on a new adventure in footwear. Bendjima has revealed his re-invented 992 sneaker, directly inspired by the “reflection of the colouration and curvature of the dunes of southern Algeria, which is contrasted by black circular cutaways that symbolize the ancient architecture of Ghardaïa”.

A sweet balance of warm tan and black elegance in both mesh and leather, these shoes present a simple, stripped down vision of Algeria’s diverse landscape. Due to release on October 22nd for both Men and Women, the shoe will be available to purchase online only through Studio FY7’s website, which you can find here!

This drop will mark Bendjima’s second release, following an initiative earlier in the year in collaboration with artist Kamil Abbas in support of Mona Relief, Baitulmaal and Islamic Relief USA to aid Yemen.
