After starting off in various regions of the world, FAD Institute of Luxury Fashion and Style expanded to Dubai and just keeps growing. Following their designs’ great success in this year’s Arab Fashion Week, we’ve reached out to the team to know more about FAD and founder Shivang Dhruva.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

FAD Team: Founder of FAD Dubai & FAD India, Shivang Dhruva has spent over 18 years in the industry with a vision to build & propel an ecosystem for creative emerging talents. Having founded FAD in 2007, the institution now has three campuses celebrating a global footprint for its students and talents. Over the years, Shivang has also built platforms and showcased the next generation of fashion talents in partnership with Vogue Italia, Cameramoda, Helsinki Fashion Week to initiate LFS Conclave in an effort to bring industry and emerging talents to engage, explore & network.

WHY LAUNCH FAD IN DUBAI?

FAD Team: FAD Dubai was founded with a vision of supporting the Middle East’s growing creative economy. With an objective of industry-integrated learning, the vision was to educate, train and build an ecosystem for aspiring talents across various fields in Luxury & Fashion to be able to foray into the industry with a greater understanding of the regional and global needs.

WHAT DO YOU THINK FAD BRINGS TO THE UAE FASHION SCENE?

FAD Team: FAD has been at the forefront of changing the creative education landscape in the Middle East. The industry-driven culture teamed with unparalleled global exposure for our students. Showcases at global fashion weeks, industry engagement & a hands-on integrated approach has given students the opportunity to understand careers beyond fashion design and explore other areas such as fashion styling, retail, luxury brand management and entrepreneurship.

FAD Team: We would want aspiring students to understand the culture, opportunities and the FAD Industry connect and come in with passion, persistence and patience to get the best experience through learning at FAD Dubai. Our objective is to train, educate and further give students the opportunity and the platform to establish themselves in the industry through our support.

YOUR STUDENTS HAVE COLLABORATED WITH VARIOUS FASHION WEEKS AND FAD DESIGNS HAVE GAINED A LOT OF APPRECIATION. ANY WORD ON THAT EXPERIENCE?

FAD Team: FAD students have had the opportunity as the only fashion school in the region to be invited to showcase on the official calendar of the Milan Fashion Week, London Fashion Week & Arab Fashion Week. Our students have shown unparalleled ability to conceive both regional and globally directed collections that are market ready and also show their individuality. For students to be on a platform with some of the world’s biggest names, has been an opportunity of a lifetime while they kick start their creative careers. We are committed in supporting them and we thank all the fashion week platforms for their continued support to FAD and our talents.

WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS FOR FAD?
