Fifteen students representing all year categories presented their designs to the members of the jury, both local and international and to a wide audience of fashion professionals, specialized media as well as friends and relatives. The first graduates of Alba’s School of Fashion Design were awarded at the end of the show. This was a significant and moving moment for the students, their teachers and the school’s director, Mrs Emilie Duval but also for the school’s sponsor, the designer Rabih Kayrouz, who was very proud and moved on this occasion.

The management of Alba headed by the dean Mr. André Bekhazi has been particularly pleased with the success of his endeavors towards the creation of this School. The partnership with the prestigious and out-of-the-box La Cambre Mode(s) of ENSAV-La Cambre (Brussels), run by Tony Delcampe, also a jury member, has proved to be a successful one…. This event, which was entirely designed and created by both students and the school team, was a real opportunity for the students to present their 3 years’ works and have their vivid creations evolve in a sprawling and flamboyant show.

The catwalk covered successively the corridors on the first floor, the atrium, the Samir J. Abillama amphitheater and the Adnan and Adel Kassar “Salle Polyvalente”. For the occasion, the latter changed into a “black box” filled with mystery and scattered smoke, from which models emerged.

The jury consisted of key figures from the fashion world such as Hania Yafawi (Dépêche Mode) and Raya Dernayka (Boutique Plum) as well as a group of specialized local and international media represented by Mrs Fifi Abou Dib (L’Officiel/l’OLJ), Mrs Sylvia Jorif and Mrs Elisabeth Clauss (respectively free-lancer journalist and Elle Belgique) who also where members of the jury. They all witnessed the 60 looks of our young designers and up-and-coming modelers. The show was designed by them to reflect the latest trends and offer their point of view on fashion with a particular focus on staging.

The entire group aimed to redefine the common perceptions of clothing by exploring the body’s connection to space and how it relates to people. Following a bustle of decibels, colors, lights, fabrics and models each one serving the students and their creativity, came a highly applauded “finale” overshadowed by the heart-felt emotion of the young designers and their team of teachers…
