Born in Tehran, Hushidar Mortezaie immigrated to California’s Bay Area in 1975. This multidisciplinary artist navigates through different mediums amongst which painting, fashion design, silkscreen or illustration. His home country, Iran, remains an endless source of inspiration to him.
After studying Fine Arts at UC Berkeley, Hushidar met partner Michael Sears, a designer himelf, with whom he moved to NYC.
In the Big Apple, Mortezaie became a buyer and boutique curator at Patricia Field, highly recognized for her stylist job on TV show Sex & The City.

Soon enough, Fashion Design became one of the main mean of expression for Mortezaie, who qualifies himself self-taught thanks to his work experiences.  Iranian carpets, candies, ornaments of children’s book.. his fashion inspirations are numerous although all linked back to Iran.
In 2017, Hushidar launched Silk Road Super, an online bazaar inspired by the 21st century silk road, showcasing art and fashion once again inspired by Iran, but also by “the east, the west, and far beyond.”  Definitely surfing on the retro-futuristic/arabic nostalgia vibe, Silk Road Super will probably make you want to click “Add to cart” many many times. Word of advice from JDEED : open this link to shop only on pay day.
