Designs for the Suitable Woman | Arwa Al Banawi

Born in Jeddah, Arwa Al Banawi grew up in Switzerland and moved to Dubai in 2012.

She made her first steps in the Fashion world as a fashion and lifestyle blogger in Jeddah, her hometown, before eventually taking up short courses in Fashion Design dispensed by London College of Fashion in Dubai. Still engaged with a career in banking at the time, Arwa, upon realizing her true passion for design, launched her first Ready-to-Wear collection in 2015.

Subtly masculine in their tailoring approach, Arwa’s pieces are modernly ladylike in terms of patterns, colors and general identity.

The collection she presented last March at Fashion Forward Dubai is a savvy mix of urban and tailored pieces comprising of strong shades such as Lava Red and Peacock Blue with touches of gold and floral print.

A red and white jacket embroidered with the Arabic word “Hayatoha”, “her life” is our favourite piece of this collection, appropriately baptized The Suitable Woman.
