Tashkeel and FN Designs present 'Homepage,' a solo exhibition by Emirati artist Mouza Al Hamrani
On September 10th, Tashkeel and FN designs in Alserkal Avenue opened "Homepage", an exhibition by Ajman-based illustrator and multimedia designer Mouza Al Hamrani. Drawing inspiration from her Khaleeji upbringing, Al Hamrani's work explores themes such as cultural heritage, existentialism, superstition, and the human experience.
The exhibition marks Mouza’s first solo exhibition and is the result of her journey through Tashkeel's Critical Practice Programme.
Known for its humor, playfulness, and distinct style, Mouza’s art often combines kinetic and graphic elements with witty captions. Her pieces have been exhibited in shows like “Breaking Khaleeji Cultural Myths” in Kuwait City, “Arab Animation” at Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi, the 10th Sikka Art and Design Festival, and the Community and Critique exhibition as part of the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artist Fellowship Cohort 7. She earned her B.Sc. in Multimedia Design from Zayed University, Dubai.
"This exhibition (...) captures my journey with the internet in this region.”
Selected as one of four artists for the Tashkeel's Critical Praxctice Programme, Mouza developed a series blending traditional illustration with digital techniques. Homepage offers a bold take on digital and cultural narratives, merging past and present.
“This exhibition reflects the duality of the digital age—celebrating its opportunities while addressing the fatigue that comes with constant online presence,” says Mouza. “It captures my journey with the internet in this region.”
Karam Hoar, Tashkeel’s Marketing Manager, notes that the Critical Practice Programme nurtures local talent, providing studio support and critique. Homepage, he adds, embodies the chaos of the digital era and will inspire discussions about the region’s digital history.
The exhibition will feature two talks and two artist-led tours on 29 September and 13 October at FN Designs Gallery, Alserkal Avenue. The first talk will be a conversation between Mouza and her mentor, Salem Al Qassimi, while the second will be an open Q&A moderated by Alia Al Shamsi.
