In her highly anticipated solo debut in London, Egyptian artist Nour Ammar invites us into her emotional world with The Home That Carries Me, a raw and intimate exploration of abstraction and movement.

Curated by Hayaty Diaries, this exhibition, which runs from January 14 to 19, 2025, at J/M Gallery, offers a transformative journey into the fluid, ever-changing landscape of Ammar’s art. With every brushstroke, Ammar redefines what it means to create, embracing the unknown and the power of spontaneous expression.

The Essence of Nour Ammar’s Art
For Ammar, every mark on her canvas is not just a form of expression but a rhythm—an echo of the emotional undercurrent that drives her creative process. Her art is a meditation on movement, instability, and uncertainty—forces that resonate deeply with the human experience. As her lines become freer and her strokes bolder, Ammar’s work pushes the boundaries of self-expression, offering a glimpse into the emotional landscapes she inhabits.

The Home That Carries Me is more than an exhibition; it is a love letter to the act of creation. Through her abstract works, Ammar explores how colour interacts and conflicts, how forms dissolve and re-emerge, and how the cyclical nature of creation and destruction shapes her world. These pieces speak of a sacred mental space, a home not of brick and mortar, but one born from the surrender of control and the quiet wisdom of the subconscious. In this space, hidden truths come to life, revealing themselves through colour, light, and movement.

A Journey of Self-Discovery
Ammar’s journey is deeply personal, a search for meaning through the lens of abstraction. Her works avoid fixed narratives, instead offering spaces for emotional freedom and intuitive expression. Inspired by life itself, she channels her inner world into every brushstroke, allowing her feelings to flow without constraint. This instinctual approach to art-making allows Ammar to connect with the subconscious and unlock new realizations with every creation.

Her work speaks not only to her own experiences but to a universal truth, resonating with the viewer through its unspoken language of movement and colour. “It is in the silent spaces between these marks,” says Ammar, “where the true soul of my work resides.”
