Bottega Veneta Unlocks The Power Of Wow For SS25
The Bottega Veneta SS25 Runway presentation was nothing but another display of Creative Director Matthieu Blazy's exceptional skills for craftsmanship and materials, paired with a thirst for simpler times: “as a kid, there is the adventure of the everyday – there’s a feeling that anything could happen,' Blazy.
Regressive but powerful, the collection exuded a sense of fun while maintaining the precision and quiet elegance the brand is known for.
The Bottega codes were all present on that runway, runway that was edged by a set of 60 animal-shaped beanbags inspired by the iconic 1968 Zanotta Sacco chair named The Ark and featuring no less 15 different animals.
Not just a decor, these seemingly XXL plushes served as actual seats for the VIP attendees, amongst which campaign star A$AP Rocky, Jacob Elordi or Algerian Olympian Imane Khelif, who by the way is very muchentering her style icon era in a mustard yellow suede shirt.
The parade of looks kept us mesmerized from opening to end. The spectacle offered an array of colors, fabrics, layering, wrinkled textures and XXL shoulders, that echo the moments when, as children, we would sneak into our parent's closets to rob a jacket or two. 'What would the kid in you want?' asks Blazy who says he 'wanted to feel the primal pull of fashion once more, a coming-of-age fascination that encompasses the joy of looking, discovering and dressing: the power of wow!”
And wowed we were. The playfulness of the 'pantaskirts' and its asymmetry, the multi-layering that feels like a hug of reassurance, the exaggerated proportions that highlight the 'awkward chic' of the whole line up.
The cuts are fluid but controlled, emphasizing on the impeccable quality of each fabric. The accessories are literally out to play: here's a frog hanging on a collar, a maxi bright orange croc clutch , bunny ears belt buckles, our next pair of white mocks.
As per one of our favourites, The 'Andiamo' is now dressed up with a handle and hide a 'bright and boldtramezza inside, like a smile'.
We remain in awe in front of a white leather skirt and its leather pompoms and a man jacket with a huge collar in signature brown intrecciato leather.
A quintessentially Bottega collection, disturbed by out-of-the-comfort-zone elements, Matthieu Blazy proves once more that the brand is one of the best executed comebacks of the past decade.
