The definition of a cozy nest, The Other House, located in the heart of West London, a few steps from Gloucester Road, is the perfect place to unwind in busy London.
Opened in July 2022, The Other House South Kensington is London’s first ‘Residents Club’, offering an innovative hospitality concept ranging from apartment-style living (perfect if you’re looking at options for longer stays), hotel services, but also a complimentary access to an exclusive private members club.
Follow JDEED to London to explore all this property has to offer.

THE HOTEL’S FACADE – COURTESY OF THE OTHER HOUSE

Decorated on a fauna and flora theme, the hotel’s palette of deep greens marries perfectly with the flower, plant and other animal patterns and prints covering the walls. From the moment you step inside, you feel as if you entered a magical garden. Furnished with taste, The Other House boasts a traditional Victorian architecture and represents the essence of quintessential British charm and history whether it being through their iconic facade or their beautifully designed interiors.
Big plus, in an optic to be more sustainable and local, the furnitures are all Made In England.

The room we stayed in, a “Club Flat”, was more of a studio, with an equipped little kitchen, living room area and spacious bedroom with its desk corner and en-suite bathroom featuring a beautiful rainfall shower.

A real pied-à-terre in South Kensington, where we could see yourselves staying for way more than just a night, the studio is perfect both for business and leisure travellers alike.
What’s also perfect with The Other House (for people like us, digital nomads), is that you can purchase special rate packages of 50 to 150 nights, for use over a 3 to 12 month period –with the more nights you choose, the better the rate you pay, making things way easier than with Airbn’b or having to find an accommodation again every time. For a small fee, TOASK will even keep your luggage for you while you’re gone.

Decided to visit every area of the hotel, came evening we made our way to the “Owl and Monkey”. The hotel’s bar proposes small plates to share as well as original cocktails such as the “pineapple and salted caramel caipirinha”, or the “Monkey See Monkey Do” with Bumbu rum, umeshu, yuzu sake, clarified milk, freshly squeezed pineapple juice, white chocolate covered raisins and Two Drifters overproof spiced pineapple rum.
As per food, we indulged in delicious padròn peppers, seabass ceviche, avocado ceasar salad and mushroom arancinis.

After a restful night, it was time for breakfast, which is served in “The Other Kitchen”, a very chic, vintage-looking dining room where all your morning food staples are available to enjoy from the eggs Benedict to the inevitable avo toast, the delicious pastries (that croissant was seriously flaky) or a buffet with some fruits, yogurt, cereals and more.
Staff was lovely as well and made sure our flat white was made to perfection.

Not just about comfortable rooms and great food, for the ultimate rejuvenating break, head downstairs to the The Other House exclusive private club where a pool, a steam room, 24/7 gym and a sauna await.

Accessible only to residents and local members, the club proposes two beautiful lounges, one with a decidedly outdoor feel and perfect for an English summer. There is also an extensive menu of wellbeing facilities and experiences to choose from.

Last but not least, The Other House is also betting a lot on its cultural programming, aiming at providing authentic experiences.
Are to be expected VIP DJ sets, “jazz” brunches, behind-the-scenes access to iconic landmarks such as the Royal Albert Hall and much more. While we were visiting, a “souk” pop-up was going on in the interior courtyard downstairs, which we were told was explored by Demi Moore just a day before.

A real home away from home, The Other House is the perfect choice for a quick getaway or a longer stay. TOA will soon be opening their Covent Garden and Belgravia branches, and we’ll make sure to keep an eye on these!
