Hidden gem in Oman | Alila Jabal Akhdar

About a two-hour drive away from Muscat, Oman’s capital city, lies Alila Jabal Akhdar, a one-of-a-kind resort in the middle of the mountains, 2.000 metres above sea level. Jabal Akhdar – Arabic for Green Mountain, is part of the Al Hajar mountain range, one of Oman’s most astounding regions. We discovered this hotel while working on the first issue of JDEED (out next Spring) and we’re not going to lie, we’ve had a very hard time leaving it. In what resembles an old fort carved in stone, Alila offers all the facilities of a five star hotel.

Its selling point is that it is completely remote from civilization, a tranquil respite from the city.

An infinity pool surrounded by a breath-taking view, a fitness center, a gourmet restaurant…. the usual lodging amenities.

As for the rooms, we couldn’t write about Alila without mentioning their immense bathrooms equipped with modern bathtubs and showers, which are actually the size of a small spa in London or Paris.
